What Cuz is

Cuz is like a cousin who has seen every movie. Tell it your mood, and it picks one movie or series for you, says honestly what people think of it, and shows where to stream it. There's nothing to install, and you don't need an account. If you sign in, it learns your taste, keeps your picks on every device, and can send you picks every Friday.

What's stored, and where

By continuing to use Cuz (sending a message, tapping a suggestion or starting "Pick together"), you agree to the following. A note at the bottom of the home page says so. Nothing is saved before that.

In our database

To improve picks and understand what people are looking for, Cuz saves what you do here in our database (Supabase, hosted in Mumbai, India):

All of this is linked to a random ID created in your browser, not to your name, email or phone number. Cuz doesn't ask for those (unless you choose to make an account, below), and doesn't store your IP address. We keep it for 12 months, after which it's deleted automatically. We don't sell it.

Please don't type anything in the chat you wouldn't want stored, such as phone numbers or addresses.

On your device

Your browser also keeps a copy of your taste, the films you've seen, liked or disliked, recent picks, the films you saved for later or watched ("Your picks") and your country, so Cuz works quickly. Typing "forget my taste" in the chat clears the taste memory.

How Cuz learns your taste

Cuz learns from what you do: the films you watch, save, rate πŸ‘/πŸ‘Ž, skip or play trailers for, what you ask for, and your taps on "More like this" or "Not for me" in Friday picks emails. Older signals slowly count for less. If you're not signed in, what it has learned starts fresh after 14 days away (your ratings, Saved and Watched films, languages and apps stay); signed in, it's kept until you delete your account. You can see everything it has learned, correct it, or wipe it in Your picks β†’ Your taste.

Your country

Cuz works out your country from your network connection (through our host, Vercel) or your device's time zone, so it can show what's streaming where you are.

Understanding what you type

Cuz reads what you type on its own. It isn't sent to any AI provider.

Delete your data

You can delete everything Cuz has stored about this browser at any time: chats, picks, reactions and taste. It's removed from our database immediately and cleared from this browser. Nothing is saved again until you next use Cuz.

This deletes the data for the browser you're using now. If you've used Cuz on another device, delete it there too.

Watch together

When you invite someone, Cuz creates a private room for your conversation. It stores the two names you type, both people's moods and messages, and the picks you see, in our database (Supabase, hosted in Mumbai, India).

Your own chats and picks in a shared chat are also part of your history above (kept 12 months, deletable).

Your account (optional)

You never need an account to use Cuz. If you want your picks on more than one device, you can sign in from Your picks with your email: we send you a 6-digit code, and there's no password.

Other services Cuz uses

Showing a pick loads content from these services, which have their own privacy policies:

"Where to stream" links take you to Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar and other apps. What happens there is covered by their terms, not ours.

Ratings, reviews and content notes

Scores from Rotten Tomatoes, Letterboxd and IMDb, and the short review quotes, belong to those sites. Each links back to its source. Cuz is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Content notes ("Family-friendly", "Heads-up: …") come from viewers' votes on IMDb's parents guide. They're a helpful guide, not a guarantee. Streaming availability changes often and may be out of date by a day or two.
